A l’affiche : semaine du 27 mars à Londres

Après la grande excitation et l’excellente programmation de la semaine dernière (les articles arrivent bientôt). Voici quelques petits ou plutôt grands régals de la semaine.

A Londres :

Battersea Arts Centre

Heads up de Kieran Hurley.

A city. Just like this. Right now. A teenage girl boils up in rage in a toilet cubicle. A finance worker preaches doom in a busy train station. An absurd coke-addled celebrity races through town on a mission. A paranoid stoner stares blankly at the endless disasters on the TV news. In just one moment, all their worlds will end.

Multi award-winner Kieran Hurley weaves a picture of a familiar city at its moment of destruction, asking what would we do if we found ourselves at the end of our world as we know it.

Hampstead Theatre 

Filthy Business  de Ryan Craig, mise en scène Edward Hall

1968, East London.  Over the years and against all the odds, Yetta Solomon has built a thriving business from nothing through sheer grit and passion.  Ignoring all the obstacles – insufficient capital, economic downturns, aggressive competition – she has found a way to survive everything adversity could throw at her.

Now she faces her toughest challenge: her family. In a rapidly changing Britain, Yetta must protect the shop and keep it in the Solomon family. But her sons, grandchildren and in-laws have other ideas… Always ruthless, how far will she go to keep the business in the family and the family in the business?

 

Arcola theatre

Tamburlaine de C. Marlowe, mise en scène Ng Choon Ping

Pièce portant sur le personnage de Tamerlan et  sur le pouvoir et ses limites (certains y ont vu une critique des dogmes religieux)

Soho Theatre 

Triple Threat, de Lucy Mccormick, immense succès au festival d’Edimburgh 2016, ce cabaret comique burlesque est défini comme un mélange d’une Berlin des années 20, de New York des années 50 et Soho au 21e siècle dans le théâtre de Soho, célèbre pour ses one man shows comiques (= stand-up comedy).

Interdit aux moins de dix-huit ans. Du 28 mars au 28 avril.

Young Vic 

The Bear, The Proposal, de Tchekhov, mise en scène Lucy J Skilbeck, interprétées par des artistes transgenre et queer.

Au cinéma :

Au BFI 

The Fassbinder season. De quoi revoir tous les classiques du maître qui inspire encore de nos jours écrivains allemands et metteurs en scène (Ostermeier en parle d’ailleurs dans ses entretiens : Ostermeier Backstage, L’Arche).
